I always knew there was something wrong with Noah from the moment I saw him.
Sure, I didn't like Mason when he came here from France.
But I didn't like Noah and it wasn't the fact that he was from Italy – I wasn't racist. It was just . . . I felt like he wasn't telling us something but I didn't mind because I wasn't so sure I wanted to know anything about someone I didn't like. That made sense, right? Screw it. I was hot, both ways intended, and tired crawling through a vent with two hot girls, both ways intended for them as well, and a hot boy . . . One way intended considering I wasn't gay.

I officially hated him even though it was one of my favorite classes.
But . . . I glanced at each of the boys nervously, blushing. Pushing back a strand of my brown curly hair I sat back in my chair and sighed audibly. "Guys," I started, "I think we're supposed to get some chemicals. I'll go-"
"I'll get them," Mason and Ethan said, standing up at the same time. I was standing between them but I sat down suddenly, not wanting to be between them. This was only awkward because I was with two boys instead of one. Why couldn't one of them just work alone?

I was being followed.
Glancing over my shoulder casually, I saw a blur of black melt back into the shadows of the hallway. All I had to do was make it back to the girl's dormitory and I'd be safe. Or I could fight the person following me . . . I smiled, knowing that the thought of testing out my new skills sounded fun to me.
I heard the slight clink of my knife that was in my boots and I was reassured by the pistol gun in my leather jacket – rubbing against stomach. I slowly put my hands into my jean pockets, ready to take out the gun . . . When I whirled around abruptly and saw the figure freeze – caugh

"Higher! Jump higher!" I shouted.
Allison grunted out with effort as we landed right on the last rope and then we both shot up into the air quickly. My clothes whipped against my skin and I whirled my head upward to look for the rope I was supposed to jump onto. When it came into sight quickly, I grabbed the rope and swung myself on top of it, staring towards Allison with exhausted eyes.
We had been going at this for hours.
No matter what I told her to do, she couldn't make it to the rope we were supposed to get onto.

"No!" I shouted down to Allison. She made a confused face and I struggled for an answer. "I mean . . . I'm trying to say no to you doing an act with Mason. Why would you do an act with him in the first place?"
Leaning dangerously over the side of the platform, I glared down at the two of them.
"Because I asked her to," Mason interfered, placing a pale hand on her shoulder.
"Because you asked her to?" I mocked him. "You can't just request that from her. She's been my partner for four years at The Academy."

I was practicing shooting with the gun when I felt a hand on my shoulder.
I jumped so high it must've been a record, and I shot the gun sideways, hitting a target right in the bull's eye. Whirling around, my brown curly hair waved away from my eyes and I saw that the hand belonged to Ethan.
He was trying not to laugh.
"You son of a-!"
"Shh!" He shushed me quickly, rolling his eyes. "No need to be so rash. How're you feeling today? Up for another rope course?"

The Zephyr Key's Host

Kaylin struggled with all her might to keep the light train under her power as she willed it to continue on with the correct gates. The use of her power was draining most of her energy and now she stood at the front of the train, beads of sweat rolling down her neck and back. She gasped out once, forgetting to breathe because she was concentrating so much. She balled her fists tightly and then she saw a light ahead, relieved to find the next gate.
Kaylin collapsed, exhausted, and knelt down as the light train turned brighter and brighter . . .
She found herself in a dark forest. Coldness wrapped around her swiftly, making her shiver. The ground was cold and hard beneath her shoes and when she walked the frosted grass crunched. But her footsteps were not alone. Soon she heard others and when she turned around she saw Darus.
"Kaylin," he said with a wicked grin.
Kaylin thrust her hand out and her Zephyr snapped the tree in half and it craned towards Darus. But he swiftly jumped out of the way and grinned like a sly cat as the tree crashed into the ground loudly.
"Such a pity that your power will go to waste," he murmured, walking closer to her. With every step he took closer, she took one step backwards.
"What do you mean?" Kaylin asked. Her zephyr broiled in her mind, at the ready.
"You are the Zephyr Key, Kaylin," Darus spoke softly. "It's your duty to destroy the last gate, not open it. If you open it you will continue this process over and over again . . . No one has ever had the courage to destroy the last gate because if they do they will disappear with it."
"Why are you telling me this?" Kaylin asked, her heart pounding against her rib cage frantically.
"You have a right to know," Darus said.
And before Darus could say anything else Kaylin summoned the light train, jumped on and disappeared in the next instant, trying to remember how to breathe.

I like the chapter! And Congrats!

I'm not fond about the "You are the Zephyr Key" idea, but you wrapped it up nicely by suggesting that opening the last gate creates an endless cycle, like a paradox. At least, that was my take on it.

Vanished  Pressing my fingers against the cold glass window of the library, I watched the rain fall down. I closed my world history book softly and dropped it against the floor, not caring about it. It landed with a thud on the carpeted floor that resonated throughout my cold body. Sitting here on the giant window sill of wood, I bent forward and closed my eyes as my forehead hit the cold glass window.
But I didn't feel the cold.
I didn't feel the cold because I was dead.
Literally.
I'm not exaggerating like some teenagers do this century, I'm serious. My heart has stopped beating so long ago I can't even remember when I was changed.

Lulu's Voice Prologue  This isn't so bad . . . I thought to myself honestly, slouching down in the office chair as if no one would be able to see me. Unfortunately, my little plan didn't work because the office ladies and the teachers would walk by every now and then and give me dirty looks. I didn't see what the big deal was. I had only started a girl fight.
And besides, when they asked me to tell the truth about actually starting the fight I was going to lie. I was very . . . convincing, so you may say. I had been lying for so long that people never believed me anymore when I tried to tell them something. But now they do.

I Lost My Glasses I lost my glasses.
I lost the things that help me see.
I used to have really bad vision
but they really helped me.

The lenses could be crushed and
gone.
I don't think they belong
